It was in 2010 that Nikki Scott founded the charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers. Inspired by her own life experience, Nikki set up the charity in memory of her late husband and the father to her two children, Corporal Lee Scott.

Nikki’s life was turned upside down forever on 10th July 2009 when she received the news she’d always dreaded, that her husband had been killed while on active duty in Afghanistan.

Her grief for Lee and seeing the impact his death had on her two young children, Kai and Brooke, was the driving force behind her setting up her own charity.

It was seeing her son laugh again, nine months after his dads death, that made Nikki think about how many other children were going through the same thing. With no support available for the children, Nikki saw an opportunity to help those children that, like Kai and Brooke, had suffered the loss of a parent while serving in the British Armed Forces.

She set up Scotty’s Little Soldiers in 2010 with an aim to help children smile again.

Since then the charity has evolved to offer educational and bereavement support and thanks to Nikki drive and determination, has grown to support over 300 bereaved Armed Forces children across the UK.
